Hello. I have such a situation. The hot water meter stopped spinning, but the water was flowing. They called a specialist from the company that carried out the verification. The "specialist" said that the problem is in the check valve. He cleaned everything. Everything is working. The service costs 1500 rubles. Issued a receipt. I showed up at the apartment when all the "work" was done. After my question: "What is the reason, how does the check valve affect the malfunction of the meter, since it is installed in the pipeline system after the meter, and what did it do?" - the specialist replied that the non-return valve is “put in the pipe”, advised to turn to the Internet and “google”. After this answer, I had to talk to him in a raised tone, and find out why I should “google” and not get an exhaustive answer from a “specialist”. As a result, unfortunately, I never received an answer - how the check valve caused the meter to malfunction. After his quick departure, I found a receipt for a cash receipt with no basis for the work performed. I didn't find any acceptance certificate either. I have a question: “Can a non-return valve cause a malfunction, is a receipt without indicating the work performed valid”? I plan to "unwind" this issue with the higher management of this "specialist". Thank you.

  In our practice, there were no cases when the meter stopped working precisely because of the check valve. The only problem that is possible in the check valve is its jamming. In the open (ajar) or closed state. If it were stuck in the closed state, then the water would stop flowing into the tap. Or the pressure would be very small.
  What led to the breakage of the counter, we unfortunately cannot know. There were cases when debris just got into the blades, which prevented rotation. Sometimes the magnet in the counter itself “stuck” and it was only necessary to hit it and the counter continued to work.
  Regarding the receipt: you can use it to confirm the fact of payment for the service. But which one, that is the question. In any case, it will not be superfluous to find out what you still paid for.

There is another reason for stopping the hot water meter ... I installed Betar meters. Two years later, with a short interval (I have two risers), they began to slow down, and then completely stood up. I will not go into the details of my investigation, but it turned out that the impeller was rotating, and the counting mechanism was not working. The reason is a design and manufacturing defect (CPN) of the manufacturer. The impeller is plastic, the axis is metal. Miscellaneous linear expansion. The impeller rotates on the axis. Obviously, the axis is smooth. If there was a knurling on the axis, then the counter would not have a price !!! But if you get close to the impeller with a screwdriver with a thin sting, and put it on the axis, then the counting mechanism starts to work properly.
