Inventor Ch.B. Mayevsky, whose name the air vent is named, did not come up with the faucet for air release, but a way to seal its parts. Mayevsky proposed to connect the parts of the crane cone to cone. This made it possible to maintain the tightness of the heating network unit in the closed position. Mayevsky crane installation

Vertical heating system. The air vent valve is installed on all appliances (radiators, convectors, batteries) on the upper floor of the house with a lower supply and return line (Fig. 2). Or if at least the connection section from the device to the riser is below the upper axis of the device connection, which makes it impossible to remove air in a natural way.

Usually, during the removal of air, a small amount of liquid flows out, so it is desirable that the outlet on the Mayevsky tap be turned down. It will be convenient to use tap B on (Photo 1), after installing it, it is possible to direct the outlet in any direction in a circle. If it does not turn by hand, then you can take an open-end wrench 12 - 14, or at least pliers and turn it in the right direction.

Horizontal heating system. The installation of a Mayevsky crane is mandatory on all devices (Fig. 3) and collectors. An exception can often be only a “warm floor”, but not always, depending on the heating connection scheme.

In heated towel rails with a bottom connection, it is provided (there is a hole) for installing a Mayevsky tap. But for heated towel rails with side connection, in most cases, it is required to install an additional device to remove air. Such a device can be a metal tee (Photo 3) or a brazed female tee (Photo 4) for plastic pipes. The tee is independently mounted in a vertical position on the supply line, in front of the heated towel rail, the outlet on the Mayevsky air faucet is turned away from the wall.

It will not be difficult in a cast-iron deaf futorka (plug) to cut with your own hands a thread under the Mayevsky crane of the “old model” - G (Photo 1). To do this, you need a 10x1 tap with a crank, a 9 mm drill and an electric drill. A through hole is drilled in a blind futorka from the inside in the center, after which a thread is cut from the outside. The whole process will take a maximum of 15 minutes.

Sometimes it is required to install an air vent valve on registers made of steel pipes. In this case, the easiest way would be to weld a steel boss (Photo 5) with the planned inner diameter or install a tee with a tap in front of the register (Photo 3).

To decide whether it is necessary to install a Mayevsky manual crane for a particular place, just imagine whether the air can be removed from the heating system on its own, without your participation or not, despite the fact that the air only goes up.

Why do you need a Mayevsky valve

An air lock prevents the coolant from moving along the circuit and entering remote parts of the batteries, which leads to a decrease in heating efficiency, an increase in pressure in the pipes and malfunctions of the heating system.

The gradual release of air from the hot water circulating through the batteries is a natural and inevitable process. The rate of air pocket formation increases for the following reasons:

• air entered the system at the stage of installation, repair or replacement of individual sections;
• during purging and subsequent filling of the system during seasonal maintenance, the coolant was supplied with insufficient pressure;
• the tightness of the joints of the pipes is broken and air is leaking;
• corrosive processes occur - oxidation of the material of pipes and radiators, in which oxygen is released.

Having found a cork, you can call a plumber who will release the accumulated air. If the system is prone to airing, then the calls of specialists will have to be paid regularly.You can solve this problem simply and effectively, and most importantly, cheaply by installing a Mayevsky crane in places where air jams form.

How to unscrew the crane box if it is stuck to the body

Often, faucet boxes in Soviet-style plumbing cannot be removed with a tool. This is due to the fact that over time, the elements rust and oxidize.

If the valve head is stuck to the mixer body, then you can try:

1. Pick up the edges of the element with an adjustable wrench, loosen the element and unscrew the crane box. The main thing, at the same time, is to calculate the force: if you apply a little more force, you can easily break the thread and break the crane.
2. Use chemicals. Vinegar, household chemicals to remove rust, oxygen-containing agents, WD-40 can corrode rust. They will need to lubricate the element and wait a quarter of an hour until the substance works. If necessary, the procedure can be repeated.
3. Use the thermal method. If the axle box does not unscrew, then you can try to heat it with a building hair dryer. You can also use an open fire, but then the plastic fittings of the mixer can straighten out, and the metal can darken.
4. Drill out the valve head. This method should be resorted to only if others have not justified themselves. Since after work in the mixer body you will have to make a new thread. To remove an element in this way, you must first cut off the protruding part of the bolt with a hacksaw, and then drill out the rest.

How to replace the faucet box in the mixer

As already noted, this part is of two types, but it has many types, and therefore, if it is necessary to replace it, you must first remove the defective element. Consider how to replace the axle box in the mixer, for this:

• On the riser, they shut off the supply of both cold and hot water;
