If you need a plumbing comb for your home, then you can assemble it yourself. This device is a simple design. The simplest version of the comb is a pipe that has several outlets. The number of exits depends on your needs and can vary from two to four. With the help of such a device, you can easily dilute water in the water supply system, and you can assemble the collector yourself from improvised materials.
There is also a more complex version of the device. Such devices are used in those sections of the water supply that are designed to distribute multiple water flows. And such combs have ball valves, as well as shut-off control valves for each outlet. Such a device is already more serious, it will not work to assemble it yourself. However, the degree of reliability of such a device is also an order of magnitude higher. The taps can be in two positions - either on or off. As for the need to use stop valves, this structural element allows you to adjust the pressure at the points of water intake.
Some experts believe that such device options are the most durable, as well as reliable and very convenient to use. Of course, it is, but the cost of devices also differs significantly from the cost of simple models. And this is not even the most sophisticated version of the device, because today you can buy a comb with various sensors, and there are also models of combs for heating systems or for hot water supply.
If you are planning to buy a comb for your home, then you first need to count plumbing fixtures. If your house has more than four plumbing fixtures along with water intake points, then you need to use several combs at once. They are interconnected and allow you to use the water supply as efficiently as possible. You get the same pressure at each point of water intake, while the flow of water is stabilized, and the likelihood of a breakthrough of the entire water supply system is significantly reduced.
Installation of a polypropylene comb, making a contour
It is not difficult to make a modern polypropylene collector with your own hands. Moreover, plastic nozzles have greater advantages than metal ones. Namely:
- They retain heat better - the metal, when the supply of hot coolant is turned off, cools down quickly. The exception is cast iron, but it is brittle.

- They are not subject to corrosion and are not deformed under the influence of high water temperature.

Installation according to the scheme
There are no cardinal differences from the assembly of a metal structure in a plastic comb
It is only important to use sealing tape-fum or Tangit Unilok when connecting, marked as suitable for high temperatures. Branch pipes are connected with propylene couplings and elbows
After mounting the comb, the design is checked for tightness. Control valves are installed at the inputs and outputs. Feed-return is supplied with instrumentation.
A plastic comb - a distribution manifold for water compares favorably with a metal one in that even a hand-made one looks presentable, without requiring painting or disguising it as walls and floors.
Performance Improvement
In order for the heating collector to work economically and optimized, a hydraulic arrow is attached to the comb - a pipe with several outlets for connection, which looks like a general device, but with a large volume inside. It is mounted to the collector, and the principle of operation is as follows:
- The heated first circuit slowly circulates in the device.
- Water is withdrawn at different distances from the return and supply connections, which makes the comb circuit closed, maintaining a constant temperature.
- The pressure is regulated by taps.
The hydraulic gun is purchased from stainless steel or made from polypropylene pipes with a diameter of 70–100 mm.

Regardless of the length of home heating, the carrier temperature in any area must remain within the permitted range, without significant errors - this is the first task of installing a distribution manifold or comb, as it is otherwise called. Besides:
- The heating distribution unit makes the main line maintainable without turning off the boiler and radiators - you just need to turn off the tap in the desired area.
- The collector allows you to save on fuel by optimizing the supply of the proper amount of carrier to the radiators. If the room does not require high temperature, the supply is reduced and, conversely, increased to a comfortable level in children's rooms, bedrooms and other parts of the house.
The described reasons for the installation are undoubtedly important for the comfortable and economical use of heating and hot water generation. However, there is a slight drawback - water combs with taps are large and inappropriate in small rooms with a protruding position
