Removable, reusable thermal covers

Piping systems, tanks and industrial equipment that require regular access for the purpose of maintenance and repair require removable, detachable and reusable heat-insulating structures - thermal covers. Traditionally, removable boxes made of galvanized and aluminum sheets are used as this solution, covering the heat-insulating layer installed on the equipment. Very often, the equipment has non-standard shapes and dimensions, due to which the thermal insulation solution using metal boxes becomes inconvenient, time-consuming and expensive both to manufacture and maintain.

The choice of thermal insulation materials and the cover layer for the thermal cover depends on the technical requirements for a particular thermal insulation system.
The shape and dimensions of the thermal cover are selected and sewn in such a way that the thermal cover ideally fits the shape of the object being isolated. Thermal covers are fastened using various types of belts, cords, hooks, etc. depending on the tasks to be solved. For some types of thermal covers, a supporting metal frame is specially developed to give them strength.

Some thermal covers have special sealed windows that allow you to get the current readings of the devices without removing them from the equipment. Thermal covers installed on equipment with a risk of leakage of the contents of the liquid are equipped with a special drainage system.

In general, when you have a need for regular access to the equipment for the purpose of maintenance or repair, it will be enough for you to take it off and put back on the removable thermal cover after performing actions with the equipment.

The main advantages of thermal covers include:

  • ensuring the safety of the production process;
  • reduction of industrial noise level;

Recently, fire-retardant thermal covers have become increasingly popular. Fire-resistant thermal covers are designed for passive fire protection of equipment at especially hazardous facilities that have increased requirements for fire protection, for example, on offshore oil platforms. For such objects, thermal covers are produced with strict requirements for weight and volume of space occupied. As simple as thermal covers in general may seem, in these cases thermal covers are the fruit of serious engineering thinking, a combination of advanced thermal insulation materials, technical fabrics and skillful workmanship.

Heat-insulating covers

Removable reusable heat and noise insulating covers manufactured by United Industrial Initiative LLC according to TU 5760-010-09167865-2016 are designed to insulate equipment of complex geometric shape that requires periodic and operational access for maintenance, diagnostics, repair and taking readings of instrumentation devices, at temperatures of insulated surfaces from minus 200 to plus 1100 °C.

Covers can be used in the oil, gas and chemical industries, heat and power complex, public utilities and other industries for heat and noise insulation of process equipment:

  • heating, cold, hot water supply and sewerage systems;
  • ventilation and air conditioning systems;
  • refrigeration and cryogenic systems;
  • thermal networks of above-ground and underground channel laying;
  • sea ​​and river vessels, as well as stationary offshore platforms;
  • solar systems and systems with renewable energy sources.

Covers can be used outdoors:

  • in all climatic regions according to SP 131.13330.2012;
  • in all humidity zones according to SP 50.13330.2012.

The cover layer of covers is made of technical fabrics, and flexible heat-insulating materials (low-density basalt wool, foamed rubber, foamed polyethylene, heat-insulating materials based on aerogels) are used as a filler. Cases are equipped with fittings (eyelets, fasteners, rivets, cords, zippers, etc.) that ensure their free installation and dismantling on technological equipment.

By agreement with the consumer, the covers can be equipped with an electric heating system based on a heating cable.

Covers are supplied with:

  • covers according to the customer's specification;
  • quality certificate for each type of shipped products;
  • certificates of conformity or other documents confirming the quality and safety of cases;
  • certification documents for the cover layer and filler used in the design of covers.

Warranty period of storage of covers is 12 months from the date of manufacture. After the expiration of the specified period, the cover must be subjected to control for compliance with the requirements of technical conditions before use.

The warranty period for covers is 3 years from the date of commissioning, but not more than 3.5 years from the date of shipment from the warehouse of OPI LLC.

Removable thermal insulation for fittingsSupport-guide rings (ONK), or as they are sometimes called, support-centering rings (BCC) are used for positioning (including alignment) of the pipeline inside the protective casing (case). Support-centering rings are indispensable in the production of pipes in polyurethane foam insulation, and also, since in places where pipelines for various purposes are laid under railways and roads, as well as other obstacles, in accordance with the current regulatory documentation, pipes must be laid in a case (casing) , then the support-guide rings are widely used in the construction of such pipelines.

The support-centering rings are assembled on the pipe, which must be laid in a case, directly at the construction site (when laying pipes in a case) or in production (when producing pipes in polyurethane foam insulation). The required number of segments (modules) depends on the outer diameter of the carrier pipe, and the required number of rings depends on the maximum static load and the length of the pipeline in the case.

Centering rings consist of two or three segments equipped with supporting elements. The segments are fastened together with bolts and nuts. Metal rings due to the dielectric insert facilitate the process of pulling the pipe in the case. In addition, the dielectric acts as an insulator preventing contact between the shell and the pipe. Plastic rings are made of polypropylene.
