Before starting the main work, you need to take care of creating an independent external ground loop in the vicinity of the building. Although such work is quite laborious, it does not require special skills and can be carried out independently.
The outer contour is created in the following order:
- No more than one meter from the wall of the building, markings are made. The shape of the marking should be in the form of an equilateral triangle with a side of 2 meters.
- According to the markings made, a trench is dug about 50 centimeters deep and 40 centimeters wide. The triangle connects to the trench building at the previously specified depth.
- In the upper part of the trench, deep pits are drilled with a motor drill. The nozzle for the drill is selected 1.6 m.
- Ground electrodes are driven into the drilled pits. In this example, steel corners (60x70 millimeters and 3 meters long) are used as ground electrodes. The corners must be set so that the distance from them to the bottom of the trench is approximately 15 centimeters.
- The next step is to connect the ground electrodes at the vertices of the triangle with a metal strip (40x4 mm). In this case, the strip acts as a ground electrode located horizontally. After joining the closed circuit, the same steel strip is laid along the trench towards the building. There it needs to be raised above the level of the blind area by about 50 centimeters.
- The final step is welding the strip to the basement of the house. To do this, you need a metal rod.
The process of installing the ground loop
According to the PUE standards, in the specified circuit, the resistance value of the grounding system should not exceed 4 ohms. After creating an independent circuit, it should be correctly connected to the power shield. For this, it is recommended to use a copper grounding conductor. On the one hand, the conductor is securely fixed by bolting to the basement of the building, on the other hand, it is attached to the protective zero on the shield.
The above scheme is applicable in the situation where the size of the land allows it.
