Before you can directly start looking for a solution to a problem, you need to be able to quickly and effectively identify it. First, it is advisable to consider the general scheme of the structure of the furnace. So, the heater furnace consists of the following components:

  • mounting block fuse;
  • incendiary lock;
  • ignition switch together with its unloading relay;
  • a special switch that regulates the operating mode of the furnace electric motor;
  • additional built-in resistor;
  • stove motor;
  • heating the rear window of the car, which contains the heater adjustment key with a light indicator;
  • a special functional element for glass heating.

One of the reasons for the malfunction of the electronic circuit of the furnace may be the lack of functional activity of the heater electric motor, both at low and high speeds. In this scenario, you must proceed as follows:

  • first you should make sure that the fuse has not accidentally blown;
  • If a blown fuse is found, it will need to be replaced with a new one as soon as possible.

Note. Before proceeding directly to replacing the old fuse with a new fuse, it is necessary to first and without fail establish the cause of the burnout. If this is not done, then the life of the new fuse is likely to be short.

  • a break or damage to the wiring may also occur at the junction;
  • in order to exclude the above reason, it is necessary to check the electrical circuit according to the furnace diagram;
  • after which, it is necessary to eliminate the impulse, if it took place;
  • if the heating switch does not function, then the most likely cause is sticking of the pusher or burnt contacts;
  • to accurately diagnose a switch malfunction, you need to check the voltage level at the side terminals while changing the position of the switch in space (for this, it is enough to apply current to the main terminal);
  • if during the diagnostics a change in voltage is not established when the position of the switch knob is changed, then it must be urgently replaced;
  • there are a huge number of possible reasons for leaving the working functional state of the electric motor: breakage of electrical connections or anchor winding, immobilized cleaning brush, oxidation and / or pollution of the anchor collector;

  • it is not difficult to revive the movements of the brush, it is enough to disassemble and then clean them;
  • it is also not difficult to restore the wires, because the main thing is to find the localization of the defect;
  • if several of the above provisions did not work, then there is only one way out - a complete replacement of the heater electric motor;

  • sometimes, which is extremely rare, the cause of the malfunction may be the mounting block;
  • there are many reasons for the failure of the mounting block, but the main ones are: at the place of soldering, a complete or partial rupture of the electrical circuit, ignition of current-carrying tracks;
  • the circuit should be checked according to the furnace diagram, otherwise it will be simply impossible to detect breaks and malfunctions;
  • the final practically probable cause may be an internal break in the circuit of the auxiliary (additional) resistor (see How the heater resistor is replaced on the VAZ 2110);

to exclude a malfunction associated with the operation of the resistor, it is necessary to check its circuits.

The decrease in the anchor rotations in the electric motor is one of the causes of a malfunction in the general scheme of the furnace. In this case, it is necessary to be able to find and eliminate micro-causes, and in particular:

  • in case of clogging or oxidation of the armature of the collector system, the number of rotations of the electric motor will also be reduced;
  • to eliminate the above problem, you will need to perform a general cleaning of the collector system;
  • sometimes a short circuit may occur in the area between the turns of the armature winding, and in order to exclude this cause, it is necessary to check the amount of incoming current;
  • everything is very simple, if the closure of the turns takes place, then the input current strength will exceed 4.5A;

Note. It is necessary to measure the incoming current only after a preliminary check of the objectivity of the ammeter readings.

Repair

As we have already noted, the device of stoves on dozens with carburetor and injection engines has practically no differences. Therefore, the repair instructions below are suitable for owners of the VAZ 2110 with either type of power unit.

If you are planning to overhaul your old-style stove, we advise you to start by purchasing a radiator. Use copper as it is more efficient and helps the heater work better.

To correctly carry out repairs, clearly follow the points presented in our instructions and rely on video materials.

There is a plug on the engine block through which the coolant is drained into any container. If you plan to use the same antifreeze or antifreeze again, choose a clean container.
Next, you need to push the frill forward. This process will take a lot of time, so be patient.
Next, you need to remove the windshield wipers and get rid of everything that can interfere with the repair process.
Dismantle the body of your stove

It is divided into two parts, which is important to know in advance. The front part of the stove body is removed directly together with the fan.
After that, the stage of dismantling the cabin filter begins.

Check its current state. If the filter is dirty, this is a good reason to replace it.
The next step involves the removal of the second part of the case.
Loosen the clamps used on the hoses a little. This will allow you to easily remove the hoses.
With some effort, now you can finally remove the radiator from its seat.

Reassembly

In fact, the reverse assembly of the node involves only following in the opposite sequence of operations. When disassembling the stove, you have the opportunity to inspect other elements of your car in parallel, to make sure that they are working.

Get used to the fact that during difficult repairs you need to check components along the way that are not related to the current problem that you are solving. Even if the part is usable, but has already worn out enough, it is easier to change it now than in a couple of months to carry out heavy dismantling again in a couple of months.

The only nuance that you should pay attention to when reassembling is the type of stove

If you have an old-style heater, in this case it is important to pay attention to a couple of questions

  1. When the plastic case is mounted in place, make sure that the pedal fits into the groove intended for it.
  2. Check how tight all knots are in their seats. Otherwise, unpleasant consequences may arise that will force the dismantling of the entire assembly again. And this, as you already understood, is not an easy process.

Everything, now it remains only to return the coolant back to the system and securely tighten the plug. Test the vehicle in a garage before driving on public roads.

Stove device

The device of this node includes several devices. The radiator is the main element of the stove - it heats the air entering the cabin. It is located under the hood. The next component is an air distributor equipped with special pipes that run through the 2110 cabin.

To control the operation of the heater, a SUAO unit is installed in the VAZ 2110 car, which is called a controller in the technical instruction manual. The unit works together with the temperature sensor in the cabin, it is also called the ceiling. The sensor reports the temperature to the block, then this indicator is compared with the temperature set on the handle. If the indicators differ by more than 2 °, warm or cool air is supplied to the VAZ 2110 cabin.

It is worth dwelling on the handle in more detail, or rather, on its extreme positions - MAX and MIN. If the stove handle is set to one of these indicators, heat is supplied without the operation of the temperature sensor in the cabin. The scheme includes all of the above elements.

The “tens” heater device includes another unit - a gearmotor, which is responsible for opening and closing the damper. A miniature electric motor performs an important task in the operation of the heating system, as indicated by the diagram. If the gearmotor is faulty, the system will only produce cold or hot air. In the event that the gearmotor fails with the damper closed, the system will cease to function. We have described the main components of the VAZ 2110 heater, the diagram contains a more detailed list.

Radiator

In the heater system, a radiator is installed for heating, which enters the VAZ 2110. It is also called a heat exchanger. Heating is carried out by the heat of the antifreeze. This component is connected to the engine cooling system by pipes and hoses. Antifreeze constantly circulates through the heat exchanger of the stove. The damper, based on the commands of the unit, directs the incoming air to the radiator or directly to the passenger compartment. If the heater damper is in an intermediate position, then one part passes through the heat exchanger, and the second bypasses the radiator. If we compare this part of the stove with previous generations of the VAZ, then it has a number of useful improvements, and the diagram demonstrates this.

These components of the VAZ 2110 heater are connected and work according to the following principle:

  1. The sensor detects the temperature inside the car;
  2. This data is sent to the SUAO block;
  3. The block compares the temperature with the position set on the handle of the VAZ 2110 stove;
  4. After comparison, the damper position changes or remains the same - it depends on the indicator;
  5. Thus, the temperature in the cabin is controlled;
  6. If the stove handle is set to MAX or MIN, then the data from the ceiling sensor is not taken into account.

All these actions are shown in the diagram. The block is a set of chips, the normal operation of the stove depends on its serviceability. Both the sensor and the SUAO can be replaced.

damper and gearmotor

The motor reducer of the stove changes the position of the damper, due to which air is supplied to the passenger compartment. This component is controlled by the SUAO block. If the device is faulty, the damper will not move. The unit is a miniature electric motor. When it breaks, it is usually changed, since it will be problematic to repair it. This also applies to shutters. The diagram shows the connections between the reducer and the block.

Design features

For the VAZ 2110, the installation of two types of stoves is provided - a new and an old model. Regardless of the engine used (injection or carburetor), there are no fundamental differences in the design of the stoves.

But what is the difference between the stoves of the new and old models. Let's try to figure it out.

  • Radiator design. This is the main difference between devices. Therefore, when replacing a radiator from an old to a new one, be sure to consider the installation nuances;
  • The controller knob on the stoves is somewhat different. Old-style heaters have a main problem - they have been discontinued. They cannot be an analogue for 4 and 5-position controllers, which dozens have been equipped with since the fall of 2003;
  • Micro gearmotors for stoves are different, starting from September of the same 2003. The difference lies in the shaft position sensors (resistors). Therefore, when repairing, make sure that the devices are really interchangeable and that you bought old-style resistors for your old stove, not a new one. Otherwise, the motor reducer will not work.

Having decided on the main reasons, it is necessary to proceed with the diagnosis. First of all, problems with temperature control can be associated with a breakdown of the control unit or damper.

First, you should check the temperature sensor on the ceiling, which is located near the interior lamp. Simply put, failures in its operation lead to the fact that the desired command does not reach the damper and the stove does not heat up.

Checking the sensor is easy. To do this, you need to move the control knob first to one extreme position, and then to another. At the same time, check whether there is a change in the temperature of the incoming air.

The temperature may not change completely, and the air becomes warmer only when the knob is in its extreme maximum position. If the temperature does not change, then the problem is not in the sensor. In the second case, the controller may well be the culprit, which is changed to a working device.

A breakdown of the gearmotor often leads to the fact that after turning on the heating, the stove blows cold air into the passenger compartment. This is a common problem. As a rule, replacing the stove motor reducer allows you to normalize the operation of the system.

To change this element, you need to remove the wipers, dismantle the jabot by unscrewing the screws. Then you need to disconnect the wiring from the gearmotor, remove the faulty device and install a working one.

If there is a suspicion that the heater of the VAZ 2110 stove has failed, you will need to remove the main deflector for verification. To do this, you need to unbend the fasteners, move the damper. By the way, you can get to the damper from the engine compartment.

Inspection allows you to determine whether it is necessary to replace the radiator. If so, you need to disassemble the stove. How to remove the radiator of the VAZ 2110 stove with your own hands can be read a little lower.

In the case when the air is warm, but not warm enough or poorly supplied, it is recommended to change the damper. Instead of a regular plastic solution, it is better to buy an aluminum stove damper for a VAZ.

This makes it possible to exclude possible deformation of the damper during switching, as well as to improve heat retention. As a result, the heating system works more productively, the air is supplied hotter, which allows you to warm up the interior more efficiently and faster.

The SAUO receives information from:

  • – the interior air temperature sensor (6), which has a built-in small-sized fan.
  • – MMR (micro motor reducer) (9), information about the position of the heater damper.

Damper control
: Based on the information received and the set air temperature, the controller controls the position of the heater damper by supplying appropriate signals to the micromotor reducer of the damper drive.

Fan speed control
: to obtain a low speed (all but the last one), an additional resistor (2) is used, which has two spirals with resistance (0.23 and 0.82 ohms). When both spirals are connected to the electric motor power circuit, the 1st fan speed is provided, if the spiral with a resistance of 0.23 Ohm is turned on - the 2nd speed. When the electric motor is turned on without a resistor, the fan rotor rotates at the maximum 3rd speed (4100 min-1).

If the handle of the fan operating mode switch is in position A, then the controller also controls the fan speed depending on the difference between the air temperature in the cabin and the temperature selector.

PROCEDURE

  1. Drain the coolant (see Replacing the coolant).
  2. We remove the lining of the wind window (see Removing the lining and lining of the wind window), the right side of the noise-insulating upholstery (see Removing the lining and lining of the wind window) and the throttle assembly (see Removing the throttle assembly).
  3. We loosen the fastening of the inlet pipeline: we unscrew the cap nuts of the upper fastening completely, and we do not completely unscrew the two bolts and three nuts of the lower fastening.
  4. We loosen the tightening of the self-tapping screw for fastening the guide tube of the dipstick-indicator of the oil level and lift the tube so that its fastening bracket disengages from the self-tapping screw.
  5. Remove the ignition coil of the first cylinder.

We do not disconnect the steam outlet hose from the heater radiator, since the clamp for its fastening is difficult to access. It is easier to disconnect this hose from the branch pipe of the expansion tank (see Removing the expansion tank) and remove the heater housing together with the hose.

When dismantling the heater motor assembly with the impeller, remove the cover of the filter for cleaning the air entering the ventilation and interior heating system.

You can also dismantle the heater motor on the car, however, for this you will have to do all the operations necessary to remove the heater housing assembly. You can only not remove the case from the engine compartment, but only push it to a sufficient distance.

Further disassembly of the heater components is not subject. In case of failure, it is better to replace them with new ones. It makes no sense to separate the body parts, because usually they do not fail until the end of the vehicle's service life.

When installing the heater housing assembly on a vehicle, you should be prepared for the fact that the heater housing enters its place with difficulty. The installation of the body should be started from the middle of the engine shield, directing the right (along the direction of the car) part of the body, first towards the starboard side and down, and then up. It is better to carry out the installation with an assistant.

So, if the stove blows cold air on the VAZ 2110, the reasons may be different. In practice, the problem most often manifests itself when the car has been standing for a long time. At the same time, you need to know that the simplified VAZ-2110 heater consists of:

  • stove radiator;
  • air distribution systems;

The radiator of the VAZ 2110 stove is located in the engine compartment of the car. In fact, this solution "cooks" warm air before it is fed into the cabin. The distribution system controls the air flow rate, temperature, etc. The supply and distribution system is located in the cabin, installed on the instrument panel.

As for malfunctions, the stove may not heat up if the stove radiator is not tight, an antifreeze leak has appeared. In practice, often the stove in the car does not blow warm air if it is not possible to change the temperature regime. Also, the gearmotor may fail or the damper may be faulty.
