People always strive to decorate their apartments. One of the most modern ways of decorating - use of modular paintings. They look very original and interesting. When choosing such a wonderful decoration, you need to know how to properly hang all parts of the picture so that it looks spectacular and the meaning of the composition is not lost. Let's find out how to hang a 5-piece modular painting on the wall. Why out of 5? Yes, because the more fragments, the more difficult the task, and if it becomes clear how to place the polyptych, then it will be easy to cope with the placement of a work of 2-3 canvases.
Preparation and site selection
Do not immediately grab a hammer and nails, first decide on the location paintings in the apartment.
- Select the wall on which the composition will hang.
- Try laying out the components side by side on the floor to make it easier to determine the location.
- Further placement depends on the type of image. If this is a symmetrical composition, then the center should fall on the segment located in the middle. In the case of asymmetric - on the largest or main semantic element.
- Now determine the level - the height at which the picture will hang.
The optimal distance for image perception is 150–160 cm from the floor. Another option is to mark a line at eye level. The picture is divided in half by this feature.
- Now we determine the distance between the modules. This parameter depends on many factors: the size of the segments, the size of the frame and subframe, as well as the wall itself. As a rule, a gap of 2 to 4 cm is left between the components.
- The modules are mounted strictly parallel to each other, only in this case the composition will look beautiful, pleasant and logical.
- When working with modules, the drawing on which should be located with an offset, you must first markup, as shown in the following photo. Correct determination of the levels of elements will help not to violate the integrity of the composition of the five parts.
Wall mounting options
There are several options for hanging a modular canvas. Of these, a suitable one is selected in terms of strengths and capabilities.
- Double-sided tape. The adhesive tape is fixed with one side on the back side of the picture, the second - on the wall itself. The disadvantage of adhesive tape is sticky marks on surfaces, which will negatively affect when the canvas is hung. Also, fastening to the tape is not always reliable and definitely will not work if the wall is covered with embossed wallpaper. The main advantages of the method are simplicity and low cost.
- Sticky hooks. When choosing this option, it is important to choose the right size and weight fixtures so that they can withstand the modules. This is also a simple and effective way, but you will have to look for such fasteners in stores.
- Special systems for attaching paintings (see photo). One part of the device is mounted on the wall, the second - on the back of the canvas frame. Of the advantages - the absence of sticky marks on the surfaces after removing the device. This type of fastener is suitable for wallpapered bases.
- The classic option is dowels or nails. The choice of hardware depends on the material of the walls. Dowels are suitable for a concrete base, nails - for wooden surfaces, OSB boards. You can hang a picture on a drywall wall by screwing screws into it. Very heavy items are hung on special dowels for plasterboard - "butterflies".
Operating procedure
Regardless of the chosen method of fastening, actions are performed according to a strict algorithm. Only in this case will it be possible to hang the picture evenly and correctly, so that it pleases the eye.
- First hang the central segment of the image (located in the middle or having the largest size). It is applied to the wall, determining the optimal level and placement. When it is decided where the central element should be, it is outlined. It will be a kind of markup.
- Now the picture is pre-installed and assessed for how appropriate it is. Also expose the canvas horizontally and vertically. Evenness is determined by the level.
- Now they move on to fastening in one of the above ways: using a special system, hooks, dowels or double-sided adhesive tape.
- Then they move from the central element to the side fragments. If an offset is provided, it must be taken into account during fastening and, accordingly, the components should be shifted relative to each other or the center.
