It is important to understand that the means for carrying out restoration work are selected in accordance with the technological process. The most popular method of restoring plumbing is the procedure of cold enameling of the surface.

- Epoxy enamels. The mixture under the brand name Epoksin -51 C or Epoksin -51 is a two-component enamel with a hardener of domestic production, while it consists of German components.

The composition of the enamel contains ingredients that prevent the appearance of unpleasant yellowness. If necessary, you can give the bath any shade, after adding white color and the selected tinting paste to the original composition. This solution perfectly fills all small scratches, bumps and cracks.
Complete hardening of Epoxin-51C enamel occurs within 24 hours, which allows you to start using the bath in a day, and restoration with the Epoxin-51 mixture implies its use no earlier than after 48 hours of drying.

How and what is better to repair a chip on the surface of the bath

To repair chips or scratches on the surface of bathtubs, it is best to use special restoration kits, which can be purchased from specialized stores.
The repair kit includes a two-component putty mixture, which you will need to prepare yourself, spray enamel, sandpaper and a spatula. Before proceeding with the repair, you will have to carefully prepare the place of the chip. To begin with, it should be thoroughly washed. If there is rust or dirt inside, it must be removed. It is best to fill the area with a defect with Sanoks type toilet cleaner. The active ingredients present in it will slightly “corrode” the surface and it will be easier to clean it.
Then the place of the chip must be degreased. For this, ordinary baking soda is suitable. It is diluted to a state of slurry and the fragment is rubbed. Then rinse thoroughly with water and dry well. You can also treat the coating with acetone. Now we prepare the putty mixture. It hardens quickly enough, so the composition is prepared immediately before applying to the chip. Mixing proportions should be indicated in the instructions. However, most often putty requires 30 parts and one part hardener. To make it easier, putty is taken about the size of a walnut and a hardener - like a small pea. After thorough mixing, the mixture is ready for application.
Using a spatula, the solution is very carefully applied to the prepared cleavage site and leveled. After about half an hour, after the composition has dried, the putty is cleaned with sandpaper. It is very important not to confuse them. The surface is cleaned until the transition between enamel and putty is felt to the touch.
After the putty dries, the repaired area is sanded until it feels different from the main surface to the touch.
The next step is painting. The enamel is sprayed from a distance of about 15-20 cm exactly to the place of the chip. For greater accuracy, you can use a stencil. The paint is applied in several stages. Each subsequent layer is applied with an interval of 2-3 minutes. As soon as the color of the repaired area and the entire bath become the same, work can be stopped.
Now it is important to properly dry the surface. It will be possible to touch the drying area no earlier than after 2 hours
The enamel will dry completely only after two days, however, it is not recommended to use the equipment for 4 days.
If it was not possible to find a special kit, home craftsmen recommend assembling it yourself. Instead of special putty, automotive putty is quite suitable. It is better to choose a coating of the lightest possible shade so that the color does not “shine through” through the enamel. You can choose a fiberglass composition that “holds” the temperature somewhat better. You will need a little material, so a minimum package is bought. To clean the surface, sandpaper is selected, the finest of all that is on the counter.
For painting, you will need an aerosol to repair chips. The range of such compositions is very large. From it you need to choose a high-temperature, waterproof enamel, ideally matched in color. The last component is an abrasive polishing paste to polish the final coat to a high gloss. All repairs are carried out in the same way as during the restoration with a special kit. When applied correctly, excellent results are guaranteed.
