Installation of the supporting structure
It is necessary to make a base for a washing machine in the toilet from an equal-shelf steel corner of 40 mm. The order of work is as follows:
- Make blanks from profile metal by cutting off pieces: three 60 cm each, two each 45 and 55 cm long - a total of seven pieces.
- Attach a corner of 60 cm to the wall, one - just above the drain tank (main), the other - parallel to the first 45 cm lower.
- Weld two parts of 45 cm each to the carrier profile and connect them with a long part (60 cm) - you get a frame.
- Reinforce the frame structure with supports (55 cm) welded diagonally from the floor section to the corners of the base.
Such a powerful steel mount can withstand five times the mass of a washing machine. If necessary, you can make a flooring from a board of 50 mm. It will increase the stability of the device, but increase the weight of the structure.
Installing the machine
Having prepared the communications for connecting the washing machine in the toilet, you should continue to work on finishing the mounted structure. In order for the machine to function safely, it is worth limiting its movement. To do this, you need to weld a 5 cm metal strip in the front. At the final stage of work, you can do the decor:
- sheathe with drywall or wall panels;
- plaster and stick tiles;
- cover with hardboard and paint.
After finishing the decoration, you need to install the washing machine and connect it to water, sewerage and electricity. Under the shelf, you can make a retractable tabletop and, when removing the laundry from the hatch, put a basin on it so that the washed things do not fall into the toilet.
In the event of a breakdown, it is necessary to act in the reverse order: disconnect the machine from communications, remove it from the shelf. Then repair it yourself in the corridor or take it to the workshop. After that, you need to return the device to its original place and connect it.
Before using this method of placing the washing machine, you need to consider several important aspects:
- Design reliability. She should not be in doubt. In some countries, special fasteners are sold, but its price may exceed the cost of the machine itself.
- Host growth. With a small growth, difficulties may arise with loading and controlling the device: all buttons and filling holes will be under the ceiling.
- Comfort. Using the toilet for its intended purpose can be inconvenient.
- Installation difficulties. The limited nature of the toilet case may, during installation, make it necessary to remove the toilet bowl so that it is convenient to install the washing machine on the shelf.
- Audibility. This is a feature of small apartments. The toilet block has the lowest sound transmission. So, perhaps, the noise from a working machine will disturb the neighbors.
It should be noted that this option is good only if there is no alternative to it. There are many disadvantages of this installation method, and there is only one positive moment - saving space.
