In most cases, housewives prefer gas models, since, unlike an electric stove, they heat up faster, are more economical and more durable to use, and modern modifications equipped with gas leak sensors and an automatic ignition system are also safer. Installing a gas stove is not so much a technically complicated process as it requires increased care and accuracy.

Important! Independent installation of a gas stove model in an apartment of a multi-storey building is possible only if it is replaced. The first launch of gas into the apartment must be carried out by specialists.

The main requirements for self-installation of a gas stove are full compliance with accepted standards and careful observance of safety precautions.

Connection rules

If the replacement of the gas model of the stove in the kitchen is carried out simultaneously with the repair of the premises, then it may be necessary to move it to another place. In this case, it is important to observe the following rules for installing the plate:

The maximum allowable distance from the device to the gas supply pipe is 4 meters, ideally no more than 2.
The room should have a well-functioning exhaust ventilation system.
Modern units contain the functions of electric ignition and oven lighting, so a grounded socket must be provided nearby. If a model with an electric oven is selected, then it will be necessary to draw a separate power line from the switchboard (with the installation of an additional 16 A RCD) using a 3 × 5 cable.

Requirements for the installation of household stoves are prescribed in SNiP 2.04.08-87- "Gas supply" and SNiP 2.08.01-89 "Residential buildings".

To connect the plate to the gas pipeline, it is usedflexible hose (differs from plumbing by yellow marks on the sheath), the maximum length of which is 5 m, and the inner diameter is more than 10 mm.

There are several types of such hoses:

Rubber fabric. Soft and flexible, non-conductive, but not rigid enough.

Rubber with a metal braid, the most common variety previously.

Preparation for work

Dismantling the old appliance

Dismantling a gas stove with the subsequent installation of a new one is not particularly difficult, but it also requires strict adherence to safety precautions.

The first step is to turn off the gas supply valve on the descent (you must make sure that this item is fulfilled, that is, try to light the burner).
Then the lock nut is unscrewed and the coupling is driven down to the device.

If the stove is old and connected to the gas pipeline with a metal pipe, the nut or coupling may not give in due to the paint applied to them.Then this eyeliner is cut off by a grinder (below the tap), and the remnants are already twisted out with a gas wrench.

The kitchen appliance moves away from the wall at a sufficient distance.
If repair work is planned, and the new plate will not be installed immediately, for safety reasons, a plug is placed in the tap on the descent.

The standard sequence of actions is as follows:

Release the "object" from packaging materials and all accessories (tray, tray, dividers, etc.), leaving only the protective film, which must be removed after all repairs are completed.
Install the stove in the intended place, maintaining the distance from the wall, prescribed in the attached documentation.
With the help of a level and adjustable feet, the work surface is leveled horizontally.
The flexible hose is connected to the gas pipeline. To do this, the threaded connection is wrapped with a sealant (FUM tape) and tightened with an appropriate key.

Then the gas hose is similarly connected to the device, using a sealant and tightening the lock nut with two open-end wrenches. It often happens that the thread at the exit of the plate has a pitch of 3/8 ′, then an adapter is installed that comes with the device.

When connecting the hose to the unit, be sure to install the 13 mm gasket, which is sold with the stove. It contains a metal mesh that acts as a debris barrier and extends the life of the expensive device.

The last item is to check both connections for tightness, which is carried out using a soap solution. In this case, thick foam is abundantly applied to the joints (with a brush or by hand) and the gas supply valve is opened at the descent. If bubbles appear at the joint, the valve is closed and the defective joint is redone. If the surface remains level, then there is no gas leakage, which means that the new plate is installed correctly.

Is self-installation of the stove a violation?

Despite the fact that in itself the replacement of one appliance with another (equivalent in the number of burners) is not a violation, it is strongly recommended to call a representative of the gas service before starting its operation to control the correct installation, make the necessary changes to the documents and register the appliance. If, during a scheduled inspection, gas workers discover that the owner installed his unit on his own and did not notify the relevant service about this, he may face administrative liability in the form offine and even turn off the gas.

Note! In the case of connecting a gas stove with your own hands, the warranty period of the new device is counted not from this moment, but from the date of purchase. In addition, if the device passport does not contain marks made by the master after installation or verification of its correctness, the warranty will be considered invalid.

If everything is installed correctly, and the connections are made with a flexible rubber hose, it can stand and work properly for 10 years or more. I use it myself, in 2009 I installed a gas stove, the only thing I had to invite employees of Gorgaz to be accepted for operation. I had to buy from them 3 meters of hose, a fitting (adapter) and two clamps at a triply price. Although I had the same hose and fitting bought at a gas equipment store. (just a lot cheaper by 5 times) the quality is the same no worse, similar to theirs. Mine was not accepted. They said buy from us! We will not accept anything else! And I had to ... agree with these extortionists. Otherwise, the papers would not have been signed on acceptance. This is an imposed service with the purchase of material (they still make money for themselves from above (bastards). It’s 2021. Everything costs and this rubber hose is used. They also ripped off for work, as if they connected everything also at exorbitant prices .. Gas companies are crooks ... I use liquefied gas.

For many years I have been trying to find specialists who can connect a new gas stove instead of the old one in the same place and with the same dimensions, but the connection must be tight. Why? Because I have worked in the rubber industry for many years and I think that the use of rubber pipes for gas is unacceptable due to possible diffusion or micro-ruptures of the hoses. Flexible metal hoses are better, but also less reliable than regular metal pipe, of course, normally good quality. Flexible hoses in gas lines need to be changed often enough that no one does. Quite a lot of such gas distributions have appeared over the past 20 years, but no one changes them, which is why, in my opinion, the number of explosions has increased.
