Not so long ago, there was no question about which hose for a gas stove to choose. In Soviet times, these household appliances were tightly connected with steel pipes to the gas pipeline. It was simple, reliable, safe, but inconvenient: the plate could not be moved even a millimeter after installation. With the advent of a new product, it became possible to attach the stove with a flexible hose, so that the device can be rearranged or temporarily moved if necessary. But which eyeliner to choose?
Requirements for gas hoses
- Flexible hose is a complete product, any connections (couplings, extension cords) are not allowed. It is impossible to make one from two hoses.
- The hose must be oil resistant and not corrode.
- It is imperative that the hose match the parameters of the gas used.
- Access must be provided to the flexible piping (it must not be placed in boxes, strobes, etc.).
- Use hoses with a service life of at least 10 years.
The maximum allowable connection length is specified by the gas stove manufacturer. For example, the European standard:EN14800:2003 - two meters. The maximum length of the certified gas hose is 7 meters.
There are no direct instructions on sizes in GOST!

Hose types
Today, several types of hoses are used to connect a gas stove:
- oxygen;
- rubber-fabric;
- rubber reinforced;
- rubber with a metal braid;
- reinforced with PVC;
- bellows.
It is worth considering them in more detail before choosing the right one.
Oxygen
Oxygen hoses were often used in Soviet times, since there were simply no other options for connecting through a flexible connection. Now this product is fading into the background. Cost - from 60 rubles per linear meter without tips.
Positive traits:
- the ability to withstand high pressure (up to 20 atmospheres);
- ease of installation;
- cheapness;
- does not conduct electricity;
- can be selected for any pipe diameter.
At the same time, oxygen products are short-lived and require an attentive attitude:
- they cannot be dyed;
- inner diameter must exceed 1.6 cm;
- should not be in oil, otherwise the rubber will overheat, which will lead to its destruction, cracks and gas leakage.
It is important to remember that the oxygen connecting hose is not a special gas hose, it is needed for other purposes, therefore It's best not to use it unless absolutely necessary.
Gas red hose
The red gas hose is used for supplying gas to household appliances, equipment for cutting metal products and gas welding. Made from durable vulcanized rubber. The operating temperature range is from -35 to +50 degrees.
Advantages:
- made according to GOST;
- has a wide scope;
- convenient to transport.
rubber-fabric
The cheapest of specialized components from 120 rubles per 0.5 meter with tips (finished product). The rubber-fabric hose has:
- relatively short service life, on average from 5 years, depending on the quality of the materials used;
- insufficient level of rigidity;
- low allowable temperature;
- product length from 0.4 to 7 meters.
Other than that it's a good choice for plate connections, having its advantages:
- high level of electrical insulation;
- wide range (easy to find for any pipes);
- due to its softness, it is effortlessly cut to fit the existing conditions.
With metal braid
Has an optimum ratio of the price, quality and durability. Price from 140 rubles per 60 cm of the finished product. The hose is made of vulcanized rubber and reinforced with textile thread. The outer part is a metal braid.
The gas hose is similar to the plumbing (toilet, faucets, shower). You can distinguish it by marking: plumbing products have blue and red marks for cold and hot water, a yellow thread is woven into the gas braid.
One of the most common options, the popularity of which is associated with many positive qualities, including:
- high level of reliability;
- ease of installation;
- longer service life compared to rubber products;
- a large selection of lengths and diameters;
- the allowable temperature has a wide range from -35 to + 50 degrees;
- unpretentiousness in operation.
It is forbidden to use the product without installing a dielectric insert!
PVC reinforced
PVC gas connection is one of the latest developments. It does not conduct electricity, does not break down like rubber, and is almost as durable as bellows hose. It has 2 layers: black PVC inner and yellow PVC outer. Due to the novelty, not all gas services accept them for operation, so it is better to consult with an authorized organization in advance.
Properties of reinforced PVC hoses:
- slow-burning;
- dielectric;
- withstands the hot plate contact test;
- quite cheap with a comparable service life;
- resistant to oil mist;
- operated under conditions of increased loads;
- meets the requirements of GOST R 52209-2004, GOST12.2.063-81, GOST12.2.003-91;
- warranty period - 12 years, actual service life - more than 20 years;
- length from 60 cm to 5 m.
Reinforced piping with a diameter of 1/2 inch made of PVC, designed to connect gas appliances to a pipeline or cylinder. Flexible, lightweight, durable hose withstands high temperatures and pressures, has excellent dielectric characteristics, resistance to aggressive media. Does not rot, does not melt when in contact with a hot plate, is not subject to corrosion. The liner is designed for a long service life.
Advantages:
- affordable price;
- resistance to oil mist;
- reliability;
- ease of connection;
- safety.
Bellows
Bellows tubes are most often recommended by experts in installation of gas equipment. This option is the most reliable and most expensive. But given the very long service life (up to 30 years), its cost is justified. Price from 170 rubles for 60 cm of finished eyeliner.
Bellows (from the English brand name Sylphon) is an elastic single-layer or multi-layer corrugated shell made of metallic, non-metallic and composite materials that retains strength and tightness under multi-cycle deformations of compression, tension, bending and their combinations under the influence of internal or external pressure, temperature and mechanical stresses .
The bellows hose is made of stainless steel with a PVC cover on top. This ensures that it will last a long time: the average life is 25-30 years. The metal braid reliably protects against mechanical influences, and the PVC coating provides electrical insulation and resistance to chemicals. Due to the corrugated surface, the product bends easily.
Bellows gas hose has the following advantages:
- can be connected to any gas equipment: stoves, boilers, etc.;
- has connecting dimensions 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″;
- has excellent flexibility;
- withstands pressure up to 6 atmospheres;
- a wide range of operating temperatures: from -50 to +250 degrees (installation on the street is allowed, nothing will happen to it when it comes into contact with hot surfaces);
- able to withstand mechanical stress, aggressive environmental influences, household chemicals;
- hoses comply with the requirements of GOST R 52209-2004, GOST12.2.063-81, GOST12.2.003-91;
- warranty period - up to 15 years;
- service life - up to 30 years;
- is able to ensure the tightness of the system even under extreme loads, for example, during an earthquake.
The length of the bellows gas hose varies depending on the manufacturer.
At "Emiflex" eyeliner can increase in size by 2 times and has the following parameters (in meters):
- from 0.26 to 0.52;
- from 0.5 to 1.0;
- from 0.75 to 1.5;
- from 1.0 to 2.0.
And Eliteline hoses have a fixed length (in meters):
- 0,3;
- 0,4;
- 0,5;
- 0,6;
- 0,8;
- 1,0;
- 1,2;
- 1,5;
- 1,8;
- 2,0;
- 2,5;
- 3,0;
- 4,0;
- 5,0.
The only thing that can scare off a buyer is the price. But given its durability, it is the most profitable purchase.
Do not use the hose without installing a dielectric insert!

Rules for choosing a gas hose
A few simple tips will help you choose a gas hose, save time and money and avoid trouble with an energy leak:
- Buy any products only in specialized stores, and do not forget to ask the seller for a quality certificate.
- You can not buy Chinese hoses: they are thin and quickly become unusable. There are also many fakes.
- Plates are connected only by those sleeves on which there is a special yellow mark. You can not replace them with plumbing. The latter are not designed for such loads and wear out in a few weeks.
- When buying an eyeliner, you need to carefully inspect for damage.
- Choose the size so that the product sags, and does not stretch.
- Pay attention to the mounting methods - fitting or nut - select them according to size.
Important! For a stove with electric ignition, you need to buy a fireproof flexible hose with insulators in the form of white plastic rings between the nuts and the braid, or use a dielectric insert.
Mounting Recommendations
When installing the hose, follow these guidelines:
- The sleeve must be laid in an easily accessible place. Hiding it in a wall or under the floor is unsafe.
- The bending radius must not be less than three times its diameter.
- The product must not be stretched, twisted, bent, or painted.
- Metal parts must be protected from condensation, which leads to the oxidation of the material.
- It is impossible to connect steel elements (tips) with copper ones, this is fraught with electrolytic damage to the product. Permissible combinations are steel with steel, brass with copper.
- Tighten all connections tightly, but without excessive force, so as not to damage the threads.
- A dielectric insert is installed between the tap and the gas hose, which prevents the accumulation of stray currents, which can lead to overheating of the braid, breakage of the device, melting of rubber.
Service life of the gas supply
After installing the hose, you should clarify the duration of its service life and remember the date of installation. The product, depending on the type, is designed for a period of 5 to 15 years. It is important not to forget to replace it in time.
Guaranteed service life is indicated in the product passport and in the certificate of conformity.
- rubber hoses (with and without sheath) - 5 year warranty, service life up to 10 years;
- PVC eyeliner - 12 years warranty, lasts up to 20 years;
- bellows gas hose - 15 years warranty, does not require replacement up to 30 years.
Which gas hose is best?
- In terms of the ratio of technical characteristics and cost, the leader is the bellows gas hose, it is not for nothing that the gas workers themselves recommend it. Don't forget to install the dielectric insert with this product!
- Next comes the PVC gas hose, it is less durable, but does not require electrical protection, is not destroyed by oil.
- At the very last place is a rubber eyeliner. It has the shortest service life and poor wear resistance characteristics. But it is the most affordable.
