When running at idle, the heater fan only blows warm air. The thing is that the speed of circulation of antifreeze throughout the cooling system depends on the speed of rotation of a conventional pump, and the faster the circulation occurs, the higher the temperature of the tubes that are located in the stove radiator.

The problem is solved by installing a special mechanical device - an additional pump, which speeds up the circulation of the coolant and helps to maintain the interior temperature even when the engine is idling.

At first glance, it will seem that such a system was invented by ordinary garage craftsmen who simply made their lives easier by trying not to change the root of the system design. However, this is not the case, because this technology has long been successfully used even by global brands such as BMW or even Mercedes Benz.

How to install an additional pump?

Before starting work, you need to purchase everything you need. This list includes:

  • Electric pump from the Gazelle car. He will be the same pump.
  • A relay in which the contacts are normally open. The starter relay from the VAZ 2108 is ideal for this.
  • Clamps for hoses in the amount of at least 5 pieces.
  • Reinforced hose. The length of the piece must be at least 1 meter (with a margin).

Now drain the antifreeze from the radiator and cylinder block. By the way, this is a great opportunity to change the antifreeze, if necessary, so a new antifreeze can be included in the list above.

To increase the efficiency of the pump, remove the four screws from the pump and remove the top housing. Inside there is a gasket that needs to be properly treated with sealant and put it all together. However, now, the body must be fastened with long bolts and nuts. So you will ensure the best tightness for the future pump.

The location of the pump is chosen by the driver himself. In this case, there is only one main requirement: the pump must be connected exactly to the hose that leads to the stove radiator. Otherwise, the pump may be damaged.

There are enough studs for mounting the pump under the hood, so there should be no problems with the placement of the pump.

Now the most important thing remains - to turn on the additional pump. Power will be supplied from the recirculation valve, so the circuit will be as follows:

  1. Disconnect the white and yellow-blue wires from the recirculation valve. The first wire is connected to relay contact number 85, and the second to contact 30. Contacts 30 and 86 must also be connected with a jumper.
  2. Contact number 87 is connected to the wire of the pump itself. To check the operation of the pump, just click on the button. Everything else just needs to be connected to ground. If it spins, then everything is done correctly.

Connect all hoses with a sealant. After carrying out the work, fill in the antifreeze and check the operation of the pump. Leaks found should be repaired. This is how easy it is to install an additional pump from a gazelle on a VAZ 2110 car.

One of the simplest ways is to bring the button to two positions in the car interior. It's simple: on/off. For example, cold - you can turn it on, heat - turned it off.

This is an easy way, and it has a minus. If you forget to turn off the additional pump, then the next time you start the car for warming up from the alarm key fob, the pump will start and take heat from the cold engine. This will increase the engine warm-up time.

For the operation you need:

1. Electric pump from Gazelle. It is this model that is better suited to this role of an additional heat blower in the cabin. It is a simple centrifugal pump in which the fluid flow is thrown from the center to the periphery by means of blades.

Before starting work, we cool the engine in a natural way. Then drain the coolant into a clean container. We still need it, so we have to worry about its cleanliness.

After this procedure, we take a new pump and, from the side where the impeller stands, unscrew the four screws.

A gasket made of rubber material, which is found in this place, is lubricated with a conventional sealant.

Next, we reassemble the pump, but instead of the removed screws, we install elongated thin bolts for nuts. Only this approach provides the best sealing of the joint.

  • The next step is to determine the location of the additional electric pump. There are several possibilities for this:
  • - on the washer reservoir stud;
  • - on a hairpin near the battery;
  • - on the fastenings of the standard Shumkov, located on the motor shield.

Usually they prefer the standard approach, which is described in the instructions attached to the electric pump, that is, the second option. Therefore, the pump must be positioned in such a way that its horizontal branch pipe looks towards the block, for which the iron fastening clamp should be unclenched.

The next step, after installing the pump in the selected position, is to install the hoses.To do this, we remove them from the stove and from the tube coming out from under the collector. Next, we take a reinforced hose of sufficient length, try it on in place. The main thing is that it should reach the pump tube from the collector brass tube without kinks and stresses.

To fix it on the tube from under the collector, you first need to install an adapter corner on it (so that the hose does not bend) with a small piece of hose (at least 10 cm), we fix the structure with clamps (4 pieces are required).

The process of connecting the pump with the hose from the stove is much easier, since it does not require the installation of adapters, just stretch the desired size and make the connection. Fasten also with clamps (2 pcs.).

In order to finally fix everything, it is recommended to put an aluminum corrugated pipe on the installed hoses in the area of ​​​​the exhaust manifold so that the hoses do not melt from hot air.

Finally, we fix everything and proceed to the connection of electricians.

When installing the pump, the ground wire of the winding must be grounded, the power wire of the relay is connected to the wire of the pump, the positive from the relay is passed through the fuse, which is connected to the battery plus. We pull the control from the relay plus to the start button in the salon along with the plus of the battery. The button in the cabin is placed in any convenient place.

The final step is to test the pump in action. To do this, you need to return the antifreeze to your homeland, and if necessary, add more, start the engine and wait a bit for the engine to warm up. Then, using the button, start an additional pump.

First of all, the pump itself is the most important element. On the market, the GAZelle stove pump is in greatest demand, as it is cheap and affordable. However, the solution has several serious drawbacks (noise during operation, high power consumption, average resource).

It turns out that even taking into account the fact that the Gazelle heater pump is inexpensive, experts recommend considering an additional BOSCH pump for a passenger car.

Depending on which pump was chosen and which machine it is installed on, it may be necessary to purchase a 4-pin relay, a 3-pin toggle switch, as well as wires, terminals, corrugations, hoses and clamps, bolts, fasteners and even sealants.

For example, a sealant is needed if a Gazelle stove pump is installed on the VAZ 2114. We also add that the pump from the GAZelle needs to be further upgraded, while the additional BOSCH pump is faster and easier to install.

Given the above information, it becomes clear that the electric pump for the stove is a fairly simple and convenient solution that allows you to increase the comfort and safety when operating a car.

In practice, after installing such a pump, it is possible to warm up the interior faster, which is important when making short trips over short distances or while driving fast on the highway in winter. Glasses warm up faster and sweat less during a trip, it is easier and faster to remove snow and ice from them, etc.

As for the choice of the pump itself and its installation, the additional GAZelle pump is in demand, primarily due to its low cost. At the same time, we are not talking about quality.

In turn, the more expensive analogue from the German company BOSCH is noticeably better in quality than the domestic solution. Among the main advantages, car enthusiasts distinguish both ease of installation and the absence of noise during operation, better tightness, etc.

Finally, we note that an additional pump VAZ 2109, 2114 or on a budget foreign car can significantly increase the level of comfort, save on warming up the car, etc. If the installation is done correctly and the pump is working properly, the interior will heat up faster compared to the standard heating system.

The only thing is that you should periodically check the tightness of the cooling system, since even standard elements can leak. If we are talking about additional non-standard elements, in this case, the joints require separate control.
