Repair in the room: where do we start?

I remember my parents always started by wanting to just change the wallpaper. Buy the ones you like. And as soon as this seemingly small change begins, other additional work will necessarily appear, respectively, and costs, for changing switch sockets, baseboards, and also for leveling walls. In the case of a screed, you do not need to protect anything at all. After all the dirty work, the screed will in any case need to be cleaned and primed. But on the other hand, during the preparation of the walls, the screed will finally dry out and gain 100% strength.
